Quickstart
Create your first workspace and start using Nomendex.
This guide will walk you through creating your first Nomendex workspace.
Create a Workspace
A workspace is just a folder on your Mac. Nomendex works with your existing files — it doesn't take them over.
- Open Nomendex
- Click Open Folder or press
⌘O - Select any folder with markdown files, or create a new empty folder
That's it. Nomendex will index your files and you're ready to go.
Create Your First Note
- Press
⌘Nto create a new note - Give it a title at the top
- Start writing in markdown

This is my first note in Nomendex.

Link Between Notes
Use wiki links to connect your notes:
Check out my [[Other Note]] for more details.
When you type [[, Nomendex will suggest existing notes to link to.
Ask Claude
Reference Claude anywhere in your notes using @claude:
@claude What are some good ways to organize a project?
Claude will respond inline, with full context of your current note.
Track Your Tasks
Nomendex includes a built-in todo system. Create your first todo:
- Press
⌘Kto open the command palette - Type "Create New Todo"
- Enter a task and optional project name
Todos support statuses, projects, tags, and due dates. See Todos for more.
Chat with Claude
For longer conversations, use the dedicated chat interface:
- Press
⌘Kand type "New Chat" - Start a conversation with Claude
- Reference files with
@filename.md
Chat sessions maintain full context and can be revisited later. See Chat for more.
